Nostalgic Collaboration Kicks Off July 1
Blizzard Entertainment has announced an exciting new crossover event in Overwatch 2, featuring Hasbro’s legendary G.I. Joe franchise. Running from July 1 to 14, the event introduces five exclusive character skins and themed challenges that bring a blast of 90s nostalgia to the popular hero shooter.
This crossover, available across all platforms for free, includes cosmetics, voice lines, sprays, and more — all inspired by the military-themed action figures that defined a generation. A minute-long trailer showcases the new skins and confirms that fans will have multiple ways to get involved, whether through bundle purchases or in-game missions.
Five Skins Inspired by G.I. Joe and Cobra Icons
The G.I. Joe event introduces themed skins for five Overwatch 2 heroes, each embodying an iconic figure from the G.I. Joe universe:
- Genji as Snake Eyes (G.I. Joe)
- Freja as Scarlett (G.I. Joe)
- Widowmaker as Baroness (Cobra)
- Reaper as Cobra Commander (Cobra)
- Doomfist as Destro (Cobra)
These skins will be sold in individual Hero Bundles or as part of a larger G.I. Joe Mega Bundle, though prices are yet to be confirmed. Based on previous collabs like Gundam Wing, fans can expect bundles ranging between 2,800 to 5,900 Overwatch Coins (approx. $30–$60).

Special Challenges and Free Rewards
In addition to cosmetic items, Blizzard is offering a slate of “Special Op” challenges, which reward players with G.I. Joe-themed goodies such as voice lines, sprays, and weapon charms. Players can also earn Battle Pass XP and a G.I. Joe player title.
“Claim the G.I. Joe player title, rack up 25,000 Battle Pass XP… and show the world you’re mission-ready,” Blizzard stated. Wins count double in Quick Play, Competitive, and Stadium modes during the event.
No Word Yet on Esports Tie-In
While the event promises major cosmetic and gameplay content, Blizzard has not confirmed any esports activations tied to the G.I. Joe collaboration.
As Overwatch 2 continues its streak of high-profile partnerships, this crossover may be one of its most nostalgic yet — blending the iconic world of G.I. Joe with Blizzard’s ever-evolving shooter universe.
