The nostalgic firepower of DOOM 64 is back — and this time, it’s dirt cheap. For a limited time, fans can pick up the remastered version of the 1997 Nintendo 64 shooter for just $1.74 via Fanatical. The deal is valid through July 10, giving retro gaming enthusiasts only a few days to act.
A Legendary Shooter Returns, Remastered
Originally released in 1997 as a Nintendo 64 exclusive, DOOM 64 was a significant outlier in the iconic FPS franchise. Developed by Midway Studios San Diego instead of the series’ usual developer id Software, the game offered a darker tone and unique level design. Though it received modest praise at the time with a 73 rating on GameRankings, it gained a cult following over the years.
The version currently on sale isn’t the original ROM, but the 2020 remaster by Nightdive Studios. This upgraded edition modernizes the experience with enhanced visuals, smoother performance, and even includes an additional “Lost Level” chapter that expands on the game’s demonic lore.

Available on Steam, Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2
While Fanatical currently offers the lowest price at $1.74, the same remaster is also available on Steam and the Nintendo eShop for $1.99 — still a steal for a piece of FPS history. That includes full compatibility for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 owners, making it a great portable blast from the past.
A Short but Intense Retro Campaign
For those wondering about the time investment, DOOM 64 delivers roughly 7 to 11 hours of classic first-person shooting action. Players once again don the armor of the lone space marine, returning to hellish UAC facilities on Mars to stop the resurrection of demonic forces. With its atmospheric design and smooth gunplay, this remaster is a satisfying pick-up for fans of old-school shooters.
